Diane Pernet: ASVOFF
Diane Pernet is part of the first generation of fashion bloggers. Establishing her website ’A Shaded View on Fashion Film’ in addition to her already internationally acclaimed ASVOF blog, Diane provides a platform for the people, places and scenes that push fashion forwards, from the inside out.

The Internet and blogging has revolutionised the accessibility of the elitist world of fashion. Allowing previously exclusive runway shows to be live streamed, a webcam perspective is now becoming preferable even to the prestigious front row tickets. Widening potential and encouraging the public to interact with designers on a more personable and objectionable basis, bloggers are able to instantaneously feed images and commentaries across the globe on collections the moment they hit the runway. This pushing of boundaries and allowing of fashion to become more inclusive, bravely pioneers a new approach to the way we experience fashion: click, enter, enjoy.

Dressing in a truly fashion-centric manner, shrouded and draped in black chiffon and silks, Diane piles her ebony tresses into a knotted beehive, which towers above her pale, shaded face. Instantly recognisable, Diane frequently works as an inside adjudicator to industry initiatives as well as organising competitions of her own, most famously the ’Shaded View on Fashion Film’ scheme which just entered its third year. Wholly supporting the creative and evolutionary opportunities this new interactive medium proposes within fashion, Diane’s own background spans fashion, journalism, costume design and filmmaking. With this year’s panel of expert judges including Mike Figgis, Michael Nyman, Bryan Adams, Dita Von Teese and Paolo Roversi, the Parisian talent scout is now in discussions to take ASVOFF on a Middle East tour to Barcelona, Milan, Tokyo and Mexico City. In regards to her expansion plans she said: “I want to commission more films and find ASVOFF as a satellite at film festivals like Venice, Berlin and Cannes. I want to support the medium and watch it grow”.
